OpenCut on the desktop
A native editor built with GPUI on the Rust core: projects, media, a multi-track timeline, GPU-composited preview with audio, and export.
Features:
- Desktop editor (
apps/desktop): project list, media import with thumbnails, a timeline with main, overlay and audio tracks (drag to move, drag edges to trim, split, duplicate, delete, mute/hide), a GPU-composited preview with playback and audio, an inspector for transforms, text and audio, undo/redo, autosave and MP4/WebM export with mixed audio. editorcrate: the project document, timeline commands with validation, undo history, frame and audio planning, and project files on disk, shared by native front ends.mediacrate: probing, frame-accurate video decoding, audio decoding and encoding by driving the FFmpeg programs over pipes, with no bindings or unsafe code; images decode in-process.rendercrate: turns a project at a time into pixels through the sharedcompositorcrate (media layers, cosmic-text text with backgrounds, transforms, opacity, blend modes) and mixes audio for playback; thegpucrate gained texture upload and readback.
Technical details:
moon run media:setupbuilds from source with the FFmpeg programs and libavfilter enabled, since the desktop app runs the programs rather than linking the libraries.
